Pacientes con VIH-sida del Servicio de Obstetricia y Ginecología  en el Hospital L’Estere de Haití

RESUMEN

 

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo en el Hospital L’Estere, en el Departamento  Artibonite de la República de Haití, de las pacientes que recibieron cirugía ginecobstetrica de urgencia (parto, cesárea u operación ginecológica) en el período entre febrero y agosto de 2011. A un total de 291 pacientes (251 partos, 33 cesáreas y 7 operaciones ginecológicas) se les realizó test de VIH, y 27 dieron positiva. De las pacientes que tuvieron parto natural, 14 eran portadoras del VIH/sida; de éstas solo tres conocían su enfermedad. En las cesáreas se diagnosticaron nueve, y solo una conocía de su padecimiento; de las urgencias ginecológicas cuatro fueron positivas y ninguna tenía conocimiento previo. Los datos muestran la alta incidencia del virus en Haití, así como, la escasa atención que reciben, y el alto costo en vidas que ello puede significar.

ABSTRACT

 

A descriptive study at  Artibonite Departement L'Estere Hospital , of Haiti in patients that underwent gynecobstetric surgery at Emergency Service  (childbirth, cesarean or gynecological surgery) from February 24 to August 12 2011 was carried out, of 291 patients (251 childbirths, 33 cesarean operations and 7 gynecological operations) a  HIV  test was done, and the results showed that 27 of them were possitive ,14 of those patients that had a natural delvery were HIV carries , only three of therm knew about their health problem . Of those that underwent cesarean surgery were diagnosed with this disease and only one of them knew about her disease. Of those that underwent emergency surgery , four of them were possitive and neither of them knew on their disease previously. The data showed the high incidence of HIV in Haití as well as the poor care that patients receive, which is the main cause of a high porcentage of mortality in this country
