ABSTRACT
The
supplementary exercises to support the productive skills of the medical
students created by professors at Mariana Grajales Medical school in Holguín is
intended to provide the students from medical sciences with a group of
practical exercises which would mainly serve a communicative purpose. The
compilation starts with exercises to develop the main communicative activities
for a pre - elementary level and goes progressively searching for an
intermediate level. Significant attention is paid to the correct use of the
different communicative functions studied by the students in General English
which covers from the 1st to the 3rd year of the medical careers. English
grammar details and rules are highlighted so that the students can make use of
the different exercises proposed with communicative purposes. The supplementary
exercises to develop the productive skills through a communicative approach has
been kept in mind while the accomplishment of this paper. These exercises have
been carefully prepared to enrich and strengthen the topics taught in the
Vision Series for teaching General English which at a certain way lacks of
communicative exercises. So, the English foreign language teachers can
have at hand enough exercises and activities to supply the student’s needs.
Most of these activities and exercises work either well in group or
individually, or activities that are particularly suited for group work. All
these exercises are intended to be done in class or assigned as independent
activity.
