RESUMEN
Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y trasversal en la población femenina de 15 a 59 años de edad, atendida consultorio # 11 del policlínico Integral de la Familia Alcides Pino Bermúdez del municipio Holguín, provincia Holguín en el periodo comprendido enero_ diciembre 2011, con el objetivo de caracterizar la violencia intrafamiliar en las mujeres. Se les aplicó una encuesta a 97 mujeres que constituyeron la muestra. El grupo de edad mas afectada fue el de 30 a 34 años, predominó la violencia conyugal, guardando ésta relación con la ingestión de bebidas alcohólicas por parte del agresor, el abuso psicológico o emocional predominó como forma de manifestación de los actos violentos. Los síntomas asociados que más incidieron fueron la ansiedad y la depresión. Se recomiendan continuar incrementando la labor educativa en cuanto a la prevención y atención a la violencia intrafamiliar, por cuanto incide en el desarrollo de la institución básica de la sociedad y de cada uno de sus miembros y en especial por el impacto que tiene sobre la vida de las mujeres.

ABSTRACT
Was carried out a descriptive study and trasversal in the feminine population from 15 to 59 years of age, assisted clinic #11 of the Integral policlínico of the Family Alcides Pine Bermúdez of the municipality Holguín, county Holguín in the period understood Enero_ December 2011, with the objective of characterizing the violence intrafamiliar in the women. They were applied a survey to 97 women that constituted the sample. The age group but affected the one went from 30 to 34 years, the married violence prevailed, keeping this relationship with the ingestion of alcoholic drinks on the part of the aggressor, the psychological or emotional abuse prevailed like form of manifestation of the violent acts. The associate symptoms that more impacted were the anxiety and the depression. They are recommended to continue increasing the educational work as for the prevention and attention to the violence intrafamiliar, since it impacts in the development of the basic institution of the society and of each one of their members and especially for the impact that has about the life of the women
